Album Review: Emarosa’s 131 Reimagined

When Emarosa released 131 in the summer of 2016, it was the band’s rebirth. No matter what obstacles they’ve faced as a unit they’ve continuously came back rising like a phoenix. For this project Emarosa took four fan picked tracks off the highly praised full-length and revamped them into dreamy stripped down emotive tracks. Emarosa opens up their 131 Reimagined EP with track “One Car Garage. ” The band took a chill electro vibe approach, but the highlight of the track was the tantalizing outro led by ER White’s ambient and soaring guitar solo. The EP smoothly transitions into a jaw dropping rendition of “Helpless.” Completely stripped down to just a piano and Bradley Walden’s swoon worthy vocals. The arrangement showcases every aspect of his killer vocal range. Hearing Walden’s breathtaking falsetto will give you goosebumps. If you thought “Helpless” couldn’t get any better think again. Track “Miracle” was transformed into a dreamy ethereal work of art, while “Blue” was revamped into a soulful mid-tempo ballad.

“There’s therapy in opening old wounds,” says Walden, and indeed there is. Emarosa performed and crafted these four reimagined songs with so much conviction you can tell that the whole creative process was a cathartic experience for every member of the band. 131 Reimagined is imaginative and remarkable. It’s safe to say Emarosa can do no wrong.
